Hero MotorCorp Muscle Bike

OK now we are talking… finally Hero MotoCorp is developing an electric motorcycle powered by a conventional 48V lead acid battery that will debut at the February 4-7, 2016 Auto Expo which will be organised at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

This bike could upset the plans of Ather Energy-Bike… depending who will hit the market first and if they are able to price the bike below Rs 70,000 or US$ 1,100!

According to reports Hero MotoCorp is working on developing an electric motorcycle for the Indian two-wheeler market. The electric motorcycle is currently in its prototype stage and is most likely to make its public debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi.

The Hero electric motorcycle will be powered by an electric motor that is powered by a 48V lead acid battery and will have a power output of 2kW or 2.7PS. The bike is estimated to have a top speed of 60kmph.

The Hero electric motorcycle is expected to offer a range of 50km on a full charge. But by employing lead acid battery, Hero will able to price the electric motorcycle aggressively as cost of lithium ion batteries are significantly higher.

The Hero electric motorcycle was kept on display at the green pavilion of the ongoing International Engineering & Technology Fair (IETF) at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

The electric motorcycle features:

  • Smaller Kenda tyres,
  • Twin headlamp,
  • LED turn indicators,
  • Digital speedometer and carrier at the back,
  • Front & Rear Disc Brakes
  • USD forks suspension in front and monoshock setup at the back

According to sources the final product could lose much of the features shown on the concept bike to price the electric motorcycle aggressively.
