Why Gogoro Electric Scooter is a Joke!

Gogoro is a scooter that travels 100km IF…IF…. IF driven at 25kms speed and possibly 50kms if driven at higher speed. It has battery you cannot charge at home or anywhere at all… if you want to charge it then you got to take it to the charging station… for which you have to drive to the nearest charging station to swap the batteries… The Scooter itself is so short and small that only 1 adult can sit on the scooter. But in its website it keeps talking about “carrying another passenger”…wonder where? On your lap or your shoulder? Which is why of all the thousands of images of the scooter very few is there of the scooter with side view like below… even in this the rider has been pushed to the front and his knees is touching the front part of the bike.To go through all this torture you have to shell out…

Gogoro is an expensive 1 person scooter!

Gogoro is an expensive 1 person scooter! CNG vehicles have equivalent running cost as electric vehicles without the higher initial cost of the Electric Vehicles!!!

$ 4,100 which is equivalent to Rs 266,500 the reason cited is that it is Li-Ion and awesome technology! Awesome technology?!!?? maybe but why should people buy such an expensive scooter? A price so expensive that one can get an automatic transmission Tata Nano GenX air-conditioned car or one can buy the CLEAN GREEN CNG which is even cheaper and the cost of traveling with is cheaper than a bike at less than Rs 1 per km while a petrol bike expense is Rs 1 per km only if the mileage of the bike is greater than 60kms per liter. Not only TATA NANO but any small car like Alto, i10, WagonR, Celerio, etc all come around the 300,000 price tag.

Charging Station – the only place on EARTH where you can charge your Gogoro batteries… possibly after paying a price (initially they might keep it free till enough people are using it… but it is a distinct possibility… as there is no other way to charge the batteries).

Buying such a bike like GoGoRo is beyond wisdom and bordering on stupidity. Although we at PlugInCaroo are supportive of clean green energy we do not support ideas that do not make economic sense nor benefit to the common man. This is the reason you will not see PlugInCaroo sing praise of even Tesla while all other electric friendly website is full of praise of Tesla and look at Tesla as the “Deliverer”. We at PlugInCaroo firmly believe that it is precisely because of companies like Tesla and Gogoro that electric vehicles are becoming unviable.

See the knee of the rider touching the front part of the scooter!!!

The Captilist West & Europe…so called “developed countries” will not give or sell ANY technology or product to the developing countries without extracting a huge benefit from it almost exploiting the poor countries. Name a single technology that the west sold or gave cheapely to the poor developing countries? iPhone, BMW, are  perfect examples of products which are sold as “superior technology” when exactly the same is available by other companies at a much cheaper price. CD-Players, DVD-Players, Computers, Laptops and Solar Panels are all technology made cheaper by only one country – CHINA. Asian countries who try to copy the West & Europe by building expensive electric vehicles will find their products underselling over time… and will be only be able to sell to the rich… but the rich people in Asia and West do not ride scooters… do they? So who are they targeting with such an expensive scooter? which can only be used within the city?….

And PlugInCaroo knows one such INDIAN company who is walking in the same footsteps as Gogoro… and will find themselves in the same position as Gogoro is now… staring up a steep and high WALL… and few buyers… there will be initial sales due to curiosity… but when these scooters shows up in second-hand sales… (in 3yrs time 2019) shit will hit the fan…

People think Lead Acid Batteries are not good because Chinese scooters based on them were inferior. Just because China makes inferior quality products doesn’t mean that the technology is inferior. Lead Acid batteries though have some disadvantages also have a few BIG advantages OVER li-ion 1) its Cheap 2) its stable and much safer 3) its widely available and used 4) India makes excellent LA Batteries. China makes inferior quality so as to keep the demand constant… and for this China makes “use-and-throw” products so that the demand is always more than the supply.

The guy in the above video is sitting almost at the edge of the seat… so where is room for even 1 more???

…and the whole talk and focus about making scooters “smart” is beyond nauseating… scooters or 2 wheelers need not be smart… although it would be a great option but their basic functionality is to be great and cheap transporters of people. Its about time people stop focusing on the wrong areas… after all once people hookup any smartphone to the scooter it becomes “smart”… this is NO BIG DEAL…

Would you prefer to buy a 4-person car or a 1 man lonely scooter which is the same price of car?
This? This?
This? Or this?

So next time a peddler comes up to you with the NEXT “great electric scooter” above $1,500 ask them if it can travel 300kms? If no then you know its a con and not worth your money… because you will use the scooter or motorcycle to travel out of the city on weekends…and you should not need to charge EVERY SINGLE DAY…  if you cannot do that with the scooter then why are you buying it? Do you need 2 scooters?… electric scooter for daily use and petrol scooter/motorcycle for out of city tours? That would be absolutely crazy!

The scooter is good for people who are 5feet and under … and yes… while one rides the lady scooter… better keep the knees together… ladylike… as in the picture above 😉
