1,600 km ARAI Solar Car Rally coming soon!

The Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE INDIA) and the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to launch a national rally called electric solar vehicle championship (ESVC) 3000. This rally is supported by the NITI Aayog.

The national rally is planned on the theme of world solar challenge, Australia, a statement issued by ARAI said on Wednesday.

The vehicles designed and manufactured by engineering college students will start from Delhi and cover over 1600 kms in eight days before ending at ARAI Pune, Chakan.

1 kW rooftop solar installation now only Rs 22,000!

The price of a 1 kW rooftop solar power installation has dropped to just about Rs 22,000 (March 2019) making it far more competitive and affordable than EVEN conventional sources of energy, particularly from polluting coal-fired plants.

In the recent tenders floated by the the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), the discovered rate for the installation of these systems (with state government subsidy) has come to about Rs 37,000 ($510)/kWh. With the government providing additional 40 per cent subsidy for systems up to 3 kW, the price of these installations in Punjab has fallen to Rs 22,000, the cheapest in the country.
